ADOLPHUS AND ALL THAT 18th / 19th / 20th September 2009 Box
office opens July 10th 2009 The first Budleigh Literary Festival is on 18th, 19th and 20th September 2009. The festival in its first year will be subtitles "Adolphus and all That" in honour of Budleigh's own writer, Thomas Adolphus Trollope (1810-1892 - pictured above right) brother of Anthony. Besides a talk by Pamela Neville-Singleton on the Trollope family, the historical theme will be strengthened by performances of Coleridge's Table Talk by Dennis Harkness, Charles Dickens by his great great grandson, Gerald Dickens and the work of Hilaire Belloc performed and discussed by Sue Lawley, Hugh Williams and friends. We will also have Michael Morpurgo, Virginia Ironside, H R F Keating and Sarah Harrison and a workshop held in the Playhouse, led by Martin Sorrell, on writing plays for the radio. Other events will include a special exhibition of literary prints at the Brook Gallery and book signings by local authors in the Fairlynch Museum garden, as well as a social history exhibition.
